Why virtual events aren’t going away anytime soon

While the hike in dependability on virtual events was because of the pandemic, there’s no reason why events and meetings don’t continue to be held online, either as fully online proceedings or as hybrid events.

In 2020, with the spread of the Coronavirus to millions of people around the world, all countries imposed strict quarantining rules which prevented people from conducting in-person meetups. As a result, the Pandemic shifted a lot of our in-person tasks to online platforms: whether it was the medium of schooling for our kids or our platform of working.

And amongst all these transformations, the event planning sector also didn’t stay far behind. Instead of there being a dive in the number of people attending events during the lockdowns, there has been evidence to prove a steady increase in the number of attendants- all thanks to virtual events. Even with life getting back to its somewhat natural state and in-person events being back to our services, virtual experiences have become an integral part of our event landscape and they are going away anytime soon.

Want to know why? Here’s a list of reasons for virtual events becoming a stagnant entity in our lives:

Accessibility: Virtual events, because of being conducted via wireless mediums, are far more accessible than in-person events. To attend an event being conducted online, one only requires a stable connection of internet, a device (mobile phone, tablet, PC, etc.), and the software on which the event’s being conducted – which is far easier to get into than traveling interstate, intercity or across the globe.

Less Expensive: Everyone is interested in saving money, doesn’t matter if it’s a big business, a small one, or even the event managers. And virtual events are just the right way to do it. Studies have shown that the overall budget of an online event is greatly reduced than that of in-person events. Event manners get to save big bucks on staffing, venue fee, arrangement and takedown of any decorations, cost related to travels and accommodations of attendees, etc. If the event is conducted fully online (meaning it’s not a hybrid event), the only cost is that of the virtual meeting platform.

Increased website traffic: If a brand or company is planning the event through their website, instead of using a virtual meeting platform, there is an imminent rise in the number of people visiting the website, and therefore in website traffic.

More audience: Promoting virtual events is comparatively an easy task. All you’ve got to do is share the links to your website and various social media platforms, and people across the world can join the meeting at the click of a button – literally! This increases the number of people to be engaged, and therefore increase in conversion from visitors to customers.

Collecting feedback becomes easier: Feedback is a crucial part of any event: be it live or virtual as it helps in measuring the success of an event. At virtual events, attendees are continuously online, which helps you in getting their answers in polls or surveys easily.

While the hike in dependability on virtual events was because of the pandemic, there’s no reason why events and meetings don’t continue to be held online, either as fully online proceedings or as hybrid events, even long after travel bans and gathering restrictions have been removed.
